Ride For Freedom North West England – Liverpool FC & Burnley FC – Social Cycle

To mark the UN International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 

Gordon Miller, Ride For Freedom Founder & Team Leader and 2x cycling  Guinness World Records Title Holder, invites you to join him and representatives of Liverpool FC Foundation and Burnley FC in the Community on a cycle between Burnley FC and Liverpool FC.

The significance of the day is the UN’s recognition of the role sport plays in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it identifies that sport can play an active role in supporting the objective SDG Target 8.7^ through partnerships, education and awareness, which are three of Ride For Freedom’s key metrics. Remediation being the fourth which is delivered through our Freewheel by Ride For Freedom programme that empowers survivors of modern slavery to cycle.

  • Date: Wednesday, 6 April 2022
  • Start: 8.30am for a 9am depart from Turf Moor, Burnley FC
  • Finish: ~5pm, Anfield, Liverpool FC
  • Route: Burnley to Liverpool via Chorley
  • Distance: approximately 60 miles, 100 kilometres
  • Engagement: representatives of Liverpool FC and Burnley FC Foundations will cycle the route along with Gordon Miller
  • Invitation: pitch-side welcome, photos & breakfast rolls at Burnley FC; pitch-side photos & farewell at Liverpool FC
  • Participation: There are ONLY 10 places open for cyclists to join the ride on a first come, first serve basis N.b. This is a social cycle not a race (average speed ~14mph). Participants are invited to fundraise* to support Freewheel by Freewheel by Ride For Freedom that empowers survivors of modern slavery to cycle.
